Jedediah and family, along with other Cleveland relations, moved to Vermont after the Revolutionary War. Jedediah Cleveland was probably the first of the name to settle in Royalton VT. His children were all born in Royalton, and he lived and died there. He was a remarkably successful farmer, and at the settling of his estate the inventory amounted to $6,776.27, a snug little sumfor those days.
Jedediah was third cousin to Elizabeth his wife. He was also third cousin to Gen. Moses Cleveland, founder of Cleveland, OH. Another second cousin, once removed, was Connecticut Governor Chauncy F. Cleveland. Pres. Grover Cleveland was a third cousin, 3 times removed.
