Phi Kappa Tau obituary:
Clinton D. Boyd, Jr., Miami '48, died April 20 at age 81 from complications related to Alzheimer's disease. It is believed he was the last living child of a Phi Kappa Tau Founder.

The son of Butler County Judge Clinton D. Boyd, Sr., Miami '06, and Clara Mae Cretors Boyd, Boyd Jr. Was a retired attorney from Middletown, Ohio, where he was a lifelong resident.

He attended public schools in Middletown, and then attended the New Mexico Military Institute where he graduated from high school in 1943. He served the Army from 1944 to 1946 as a 1st Lt. in the armored cavalry in Germany.

After World War II, he attended Miami University where he was a member of the Alpha chapter of Phi Kappa Tau, following in the footsteps of his father who founded the Fraternity 41 years before his own initiation.

Boyd then attended The Ohio State University, and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1951. He was a member of the Middletown and Butler County Bar Associations, and the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion.

In his youth, Boyd excelled in sports, where he was a noteworthy basketball player in high school and a youth state tennis champion in Ohio.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed tennis and golf immensely, and he also loved fishing, scuba diving and piloting small private aircraft.

Boyd is survived by two sons, Mark M. Boyd, Miami '71, (wife Lynn), of Carrollton, Texas, and Tracy C. Boyd (wife Marcia) of Evergreen, Colo.; four grandsons, Andy and T.J. Boyd of Texas and Stephen and Matthew Boyd of Colorado; and three great grandchildren in Texas.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Margaret (Peggy) Denny Boyd; his brother Robert Boyd of Middletown, and sister Betty Boyd Kelley Renninger of Chattanooga, Tenn.
