Sarah Lee Anderson was born June 24, 1957, to the parentage of James Lee Jr. and Alma Dennis in Fort Worth, Texas. She was educated in the Fort Worth Independent School District, where she was a 1975 graduate of O. D. Wyatt High School. Sarah furthered her education at Tarrant County College, where she received an Associate of Arts Degree.
In August of 1980, a daughter, Latoya Shevett Anderson was born from the union of Sarah and Jimmy Anderson. In April of 1988, a baby girl, Nicole Chevette Selmon was added to Sarah's family.
Sarah accepted Christ at an early age and stared a faithful servant throughout life. In 1994, she united with the First Missionary Baptist Church and was an active member. Sarah served as a Youth Coordinator, Sunday school teacher, and a volunteer with the Angel Food Ministry. Not only was she an active member of the church, she was also very active in her community. Sarah enjoyed volunteering at local nursing homes and Habitat for Humanity.
Sarah joined the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department in 1987, where she showed her love and devotion to God through her work as a Deputy Sheriff. Sarah served for 21 years before retiring in 2008.
Sarah was a loving and devoted daughter, mother, sister and friend. She was always known for putting others before herself and was always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need.
On Sunday, November 2, 2008, Sarah was called home to be with her Heavenly Father. She now joins her father, James Lee Jr. and brother, Herman Lee.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving daughters, Latoya and Nicole; grandchildren: Kennedy and JaKobie; loving mother: Alma Dennis and Step-Father, Herman; Brothers: James (Diane), John and Larry (Michelle); Sisters; Leona, Jessie and Michelle; and a host of family and friends. DJ
Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gene Peyton officiating. Interment: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: Noon to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Morris-Bates Mortuary, with family hour 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Survivors: Children, LaToya Anderson and Nicole Selmon; mother, Alma Jean Dennis; stepfather, Herman Dennis; sisters, Lenoa Broughton, Jessie Wilburn and Michelle Lee; brothers, James III (Diane), John and Larry Lee (Michelle); grandchildren, Kennedy Anderson and JaKobie Hughes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
