Missing in Action

S/Sgt John F Davoren enlisted in the US Air Corps at Boston, Massachusetts on June 20, 1942.
He was serving on the B-17 #42-29693 "Lonesome Polecat III" during a mission to bomb the U-boat yards at Wilhelmshaven, Germany. On their return over the North Sea, approximately 25 miles out of the coast of Germany, and under enemy fighter attack, their plane left formation and was seen to spin down, out of control. It exploded on hitting the surface of the North Sea and quickly sunk.

Then entire crew was killed or missing and officially declared dead one year later on June 12, 1944.
