Albemarle County

Death: Feb. 16, 1862

Dabney Carr Harrison was educated at Princeton College (N.J.), the University of Virginia Law School, and the Union Seminary (Va.). He had been a lawyer, then a minister (Presbyterian), before the War Between the States. During the war, he was Captain of Company K, 56th Regiment Virginia Infantry. At the battle of Fort Donelson, Tennessee, he was wounded in his temple by a musket ball, and mortally wounded through his right lung, by another musket ball. Before he died, he said: "Company K, you have no Captain now; but never give up! never surrender!"
