Paragonah Man Dies As He Talks At Comrade's Funeral

David Albert Lamoreaux, 82, prominent citizen and former president of the town board of Paragonah, died suddenly yesterday afternoon as he spoke at the funeral service for Thomas Robb, departed friend and comrade.

Mr. Lamoreaux was just concluding a rather interesting and appropriate talk, during the course of which he had remarked that since Mr. Robb's death he was the only surviving Black Hawk Indian War veteran in Paragonah who had served with Mr. Robb. Some last minute thought came to him and he started to relate it then hesitated and with the statement "That's all I can say at this time" he slumped over onto the pulpit. Someone on the stand back of him steadied him and members of his family who were in the audience carried him from the building but he was dead by the time they got him outside. Dr. Clark who was called says death resulted from and apoplectic stroke. In spite of his advanced age, he has enjoyed pretty good health and persons who saw him go to the funeral were impressed by the spryness with which he walked.

The deceased was born in Iowa, Novermber 19, 1848, but came to Utah early in life and has been a prominent factor in the business and political life of Paragonah. He was a staunch Republican and for many years he was precinct chairman of his party and then was elected as president of the Town Board for a number of terms.

He is survived by a number of children and grand children who were terribly shocked at his sudden passing. His good wife predeeded him in death by more than a year. Funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon, with an account of which more details concerning his life will be given in our next issue.
