Albert L. Betts
Albert L. Betts, 62, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Old Town, Florida., passed away May 16, 2007 in Chiefland at the Haven Hospice of the Tri-Counties.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah of Old Town, daughter, Lynn A. and husband Scott Sprunger of Grant Florida, Son William and wife Susie Betts of West Palm Beach, Florida and son Philip and wife Amy Betts of Wellington, Florida, Sister Ruth Riggs of Greenacres, Florida, and granddaughters Valerie, Olivia, Logan and Emily.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Williams and a brother, George Betts.
Born in Argyle, Florida, he was the son of the late William N. & Mary Kilbreath Betts. He retired as a 1st Sgt. from the Marine Corps. He was a member of the Old Town United Methodist Church, Masons Joppa Lodge #4, VFW, Marine Corp League, American Legions at Large, Scottish Rites, and Suwannee River Shriners Club.
Services were Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the Old Town United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Carl Rainear officiating. Visitation was held Saturday, May 19th, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home with a dinner following at the Suwannee River Shrine Club on Rt. 26 Fanning Springs. Burial took place May 21, 2007 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with full Military Honors at 1:00 p.m.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Old Town United Methodist Church Building Fund, or Haven Hospice of the Tri-Counties.
Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1301 N. Young Blvd. Chiefland, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
