PFC Knutson was the youngest child of Earl and Cora (Hagen) Knutson. He attended schools in Beloit Wisconsin and was a 1964 graduate of Clinton Wisconsin High School. He attended DeVry School of Electronics in Chicago Illinois before leaving to work for Durst Manufacturing Company in Shopiere Wisconsin. In September 1965 he enlisted in the United States Marines and was trained at Camp Pendeleton in California. He was honored to be part of a special honor guard for the President of The United States when the President visited Hawaii. Earl's tour of duty in Vietnam began in May of 1966 where he was stationed at Chu-Lai. He was survived by his mother, two brothers and five sisters. Earl's father died shortly after Earl was born.
He is honored on Panel 13E, Row 79 of
the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
