|Birth: ||Feb. 23, 1932|
|Death: ||Jun. 24, 2009|
Richard Badella passed away in Utah, doing what he loved, riding his Harley with friends.
Richard was born in Sacramento, and grew up in Elk Grove, Ca. He loved to play sports and excelled at baseball, playing for the Florin Juniors of the American Legion Junior Baseball League. From 1951 to 1954, he served our country in the Korean War with the United States Marines.
After the war, Richard graduated from college and became a businessman. He worked for Bank of America, owned his own butcher shop, and worked for several colleges, ending his career with Heald College. He lived in numerous cities including Elk Grove, San Francisco and Fresno.
Richard met Valerie in the early 1970's in San Francisco. They moved to Fresno together in 1974 and married in 1982. Valerie passed away in 2001 and Richard missed her dearly. He looked forward to the day that he would be with her again.
There were a few things in this life that Richard really loved: his home, his birds, his dog, Lucky, his grandsons, Ross and Josh, his motorcycles, his weekly visits to Starbucks, his weekly rides with the guys, and his wife, Valerie. Although Valerie would be angry about the motorcycles, Richard would have had his death be no different than it was. He died with his boots on and the wind in his face.
Richard is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Devonne and Steve Etcheverry; his son, Doug Pellicciarini; and his two grandsons Ross Sylvester and Joshua Pellicciarini.
A Funeral Service will be held at Northwest Church on Friday, July 3, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to The American Cancer Society 2222 W. Shaw Ave., Fresno, Ca., 93711 or the Valley Animal Center 3934 N. Hayston, Fresno, Ca. 93726.
