Leonard E. "Tony" Cope, 66, of Port Huron, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 in Port Huron Hospital unexpectedly.
He was born on March 27, 1942 in Port Huron, son of the late Marrott and Ida Cope.
Tony served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War two times.
He was a longtime cab driver in Port Huron for Acme Cab Company.
He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW and Eagles.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: April Rose (John) McCain of Georgia and Nicole Lynn (Gregory) Morin of Fort Gratiot; seven grandchildren: Matthew, Derek (Cassie) and Tawny Davis, Ashley Heinz, Kenda (Jeff) Fried, Rainee Heinz and Torri (Brian) Fye; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Breathour of Smiths Creek; brothers, Stanley (Dorothy) Cope of Ruby and Kenneth (Esther) Cope of Ohio and several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Joe and Denise Kilbourne of Port Huron.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Raymond, Donald, Leo and Harvey Cope and four sisters: Charlene, Laura, Lila and Margaret.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street, Port Huron. The Rev. Dan Bakay will officiate.
Visiting hours will be held Friday 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
A luncheon will be held before services at 11:30 a.m. at the Eagles Club.
Memorial tributes may be made to the wishes of the family.
St. Clair County Allied Veterans will conduct Military Honors.
Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend.
