David L. "Duck" Dandron, age 55 of Port Huron passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2006 in his home after a long illness.

He was born June 21, 1951 to Marvin and Betty Dandron, and in later years was raised also by his stepfather, Bill Irwin.

He married Paula J. McFarland on December 21, 1974.

David served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 - 1972. He was a very proud and active member of the Vietnam Veterans of America chapter 284. He was also an avid Nascar fan for many years.

David was a mechanic, and worked on cars most of his life. He was also a machinist for many years. Most of all he enjoyed being with his children, and spending as much time as he could with his grandsons.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Paula J. Dandron; two children, Sean F. (Jodi Schoenberg) Dandron and Nannette N. (Paul Fraley) Dandron, all of Port Huron; four grandsons, Sean M. Dandron, Kyle C., Austin M, and Trenton D. Fraley; his parents, Marvin Dandron of Port Huron, and Betty Ham of California, two brothers, Garry of California, and Tim of Port Huron; two sisters, Sandy Newcomb of Washington State and Janette Forester of Port Huron; his motherinlaw, Doris McFarland of Port Huron; and a brotherinlaw, Larry (Jean) McFarland of Florida. In addition, David leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends, and all his many VVA chapter family members.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; stepfather, Robert Ham; his fatherinlaw, Lawrence H. McFarland of Port Huron; and his loving son, Michael L. Dandron.

Friends may visit today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Smith Family Funeral Home - North, 1525 Hancock Street, and on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with The Rev. Nickolas Genoff pastor of Washington Avenue United Methodist Church officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family, the VVA Chapter 284, Washington Avenue United Methodist Church, or Blue Water Hospice.
