Dale Bissett, age 77, of Brown City, passed away February 15, 2009 at his home in his own bed. He was born January 25, 1932 near Bad Axe to Albert and Ella (Maud) Bissett.
Dale was a decorated veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War.
He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years.
During his retirement he enjoyed spending winters in Florida and spending time with his whole family.
He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting events.
He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Phyllis, and five children, Christine Gilkerson of Sandusky, Joe and Cec Bissett of Brown City, Sally and Kerry Jacobs of North Branch, Greg Bissett of Brown City, Tim and Cheri Bissett of Brown City.
He is also survived by six stepchildren: Karen McNary and Tom Germayne of Brown City, Ron McNary of Brown City, Don and Kathy McNary of Brown City, Bob and Marianne McNary of Imlay City, Vicki and Alan Burgess of Brown City, Tammy and Jim Siegler of Brown City, and 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving him are three brothers, Virden Bissett, Clee (Bonnie) Bissett, Bob (Irene) Bissett, a sister-in-law, Marylou Bissett, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (DeFelice) Bissett of 31 years; his parents, Albert and Ella Bissett; three brothers, Edwin, J.D. and Leeland; and five sisters, Lula Nichols, Pearl Krivoshein, Valdora Tabor, Lenora Gilstorff and Eveline Clarkson.
Also preceding him in death was a stepson, Bruce Bissett and a great-granddaughter, Addison Weatherford.
A gathering for family and friends will be Tuesday from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Carman Funeral Home with the Rev. Maureen Baker officiating.
Memorials may be made to Hospice.
