Sigourney New Review 6-16-1921
Guy Edwin McClenahan, the only son of George and Nettie McClenahan, was born neat What Cheer, Iowa, November 23, 1899, and died at his home six miles southeast of What Cheer, Friday, June 11, 1920, age 20 years, 6 months and 16 days.
His boyhood was spent on the farm with his parents, where he attended school and grew to young manhood.
On November 13, 1918, he was united in marriage to Miss Elsie Carson of Sigourney, and moved to a farm ajoining his father's farm, where he made a home on his own. To this union one child was born, Wilmer Edward, a dear little golden headed boy, who will never know a father's care.
The death of this young man following so short a period of illness, is a great shock to the family and a large circle of friends who held him in the highest esteem, and who looked forward with great confidence to a career marked with prosperity and success. He was a young man of promise and combined in a large measure fine business ability with the strictest integrity. It is not strange that the father and mother and young wife should feel themselves greatly bereaved in his sudden call to the life beyond.
He leaves to mourn his death a loving wife, one child, his father and mother besides a host of friends and relatives.
A short service was held at the home on Sunday afternoon, after which funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church at Sigourney, conducted by Rev. Thomas C. Kennedy, pastor at What Cheer, assisted by Rev. Zimmerman, the Sigourney pastor. A quartette, Mrs. T. C. Kennedy, Miss Ella Geneva, Rev. Kennedy and Dr. Allen, with Miss Margaret Baines presiding at the piano furnished the music. The church packed to its utmost capacity, and beautiful floral offerings paid silent tributes of the high esteem in which the deceased and his family are held.
Interment was made in the Cemetery at Sigourney.

"Sleep on, beloved, sleep and take thy
Lay down thy head up on thy Savior's
We love thee well, but Jesus loves
Thee best
Until we meet again before his
Clothed in the spotless robe He gives
His own,
Until we know, even as we are
