Mrs. G. E. (Elsie) McClenahan, age 77, died Thursday, May 18, at Keokuk County hospital where she had been a patient five days.
She was born April 29, 1895 in Tama County a daughter of J.D. and Fatima Childs Carson. Her mother died when she was small and she and her sister were reared in the home of John S. Bower. She attended Keokuk county schools. She married Guy Edwin McClenahan in Sigourney, November 13, 1918. He died June 11, 1920. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the first 4-H club in Keokuk county.
Survivors include two sons, Wilmore E. of Charlottesville, Virginia and Guy E. of Belmond and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson; three brothers, Chancey, Allen and Clarence and one sister Mrs. Nellie Kleinschmidt.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 21, 1 p. m. at Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney with the Rev. Frank L. Greenwood officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove cemetery, Mrs. Gene Butler was organist and Terry Steinhart was soloist.
Casket bearers were Wilmer Steinhart, Harold Steinhart, Glen Steinhart, Albert Weber, Stanley finch and John Flanegan.
