Luther was born in Reeds Spring to William Allen "Allen" Hembree and Lillie May Logan. He worked in Fairy Cave, which is called Talking Rocks Cavern today. It was owned by his in-laws. He married about 1920 in Stone Co, MO to Marjorie Powell. They had two children before they divorced. Luther died in a car accident in Lawrence Co, MO after his car hit the side of the stanchor as he was entering the bridge. He was 38.
