William H. "Bill" Reid, age 91, of Duenweg, Mo. went to be with his Lord and Savior at 2:20 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin.

Bill was born January 4, 1921 in Wentworth, Mo. and had lived in the Duenweg area most of his life. Bill worked 35 years for the Sperry-Vickers Corp., retiring in 1983. Following his retirement he worked at Montgomery Wards, and Freeman Hospital. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. His joy was helping others fix anything mechanical. Bill was a member of the Duenweg Baptist Church, serving as a Trustee, and working with the Children's Bus Ministry.

Bill married Virginia Matthews February 3, 1945 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She preceded him in death on February 11, 1998. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mae Reid, and a brother, Lowell Reid. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Pace, Joplin, a son, William "Bill" Reid and wife Gina, Joplin, four granddaughters; Charity Meadows and husband Aaron, Christin Peterson and husband Troy, Kim Roach and husband Eric, and Amber Higgins and husband Sean, and 12 great-grandchildren; Mason, Brayden, Kylee, Elijah, Hannah, Emma, Ayden, Reid, Wesley, Evan, Ethan, and Wyatt.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Duenweg Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Easton officiating. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel. Memorial contributions are requested to the Duenweg Baptist Church Team Kids Program.

The family would like to express their sincere thankfulness to all the Dr.'s, Nurses and staff members of Landmark Hospital for the special care they gave to Bill. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.

D U E N W E G, Mo. — Virginia E. Reid, 73, 701 Webb St., died at 3:48 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, after a long illness.

Mrs. Reid was born June 9, 1924, at Siloam, N.C. She was a longtime Joplin-area resident. She was a homemaker and a member of Duenweg Baptist Church. She also was active in the Friendly Neighbors Club.

She married Bill Reid on Feb. 3, 1945, at Sumter, S.C. He survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Bill Reid, Joplin; a daughter, Ann Pace, Joplin; two sisters, Mae Parker, Vass, N.C., and Evelyn Wicker, Sanford, N.C.; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary, with the Rev. Bob McKinzie and the Rev. Ron Boling officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.

Pallbearers will be Eric Roach, Kenneth Roach, Mike Bertrand, Rick Miller, Joe Chidester and Frank Stehm.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.

Contributions may be made to Duenweg Baptist Church, in care of the mortuary.
