Hank Walker Dies; Rites Wednesday
William H. "Hank" Walker, 70, a retired railroad conductor and resident of Goodland for 61 years, died Sunday at the Northwest Kansas Medical Center. He had been a patient two months.
Mr. Walker, whose parents were William R. and Sadie B. Walker, was born on Oct. 31, 1903 at Wardensville, W. Va. On July 3, 1923, he married Lenna Miller at Salina, Kan. He was employed by the Rock Island Railroad here for 45 years, retiring only a few years ago.
He was a member of the Goodland United Methodist Church, War Dads and Lost Chord Club.
Survivors include his widow of the home at 1401 Cherry; two sons, Robert, of the home, and Norman "Joe", Lynchburg, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Shirley) Hayden, and Mrs. Ed (Bonnie) Carleton, both of Goodland; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Philip, Nick and George, all of Goodland; and four sisters, Mary Bolen, Goodland, Minnie Crosby, Denver, Colo., Elsie Novack, Chicago, Ill., and Virginia Kirschmer, Amarillo, Tex.
A son, Henry Wayne, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at the Sage & Smith Chapel. Rev. A.L. Holst will officiate and burial will be in the Goodland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sage & Smith Chapel from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
