Son of Daniel Joseph and Mary Theresa Cummings; born June 26, 1893, Guelph, Canada. Came to Randolph County, Ind., about 1905. Glass Worker. Entered service May 28, 1918, Catonsville, MD. Sent to Camp Meade, MD.; assigned to 9th. Training Battalion, 154th. Depot Brigade; Later to Company L. 313th. Infantry, 79th. Division. Embarked July 8, 1918. Killed in action September 26, 1918, Montfaucon area. Buried in Argonne-American Cemetery No. 1232, Romagne, France.
