DIED FROM WOUNDS RECEIVED AT LA FERTE, FRANCE

Son of John O. and Rose Alice Carpenter ; born September 23, 1899, Ridgeville, Randolph County, Ind. Student. Enlisted in the U.S. Regular Army May 1917, Richmond, Ind. Trained at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., and Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. Assinged to Depot Company 1, Signal Corps. Overseas December 24, 1917, assigned to Company B, 1st Field Battalion, Signal Corps. Died June 15, 1918 of wounds received at La Ferte, France. Buried in American Cemetery, La Ferte, France, American Legion Post, Ridgeville, Ind., named in his honor.
