Donald E. Eline, 75, of Clarks Green, died Wednesday in Mercy Hospital. He was the husband of the former Gloria Virginia Klunk. The couple celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary June 6.
Born May 16, 1931, in Hanover, son of the late Eugene W. and Bernadine Carbaugh Eline, he lived in Clarks Green since 1968, having moved from Martinsburg, W.Va. He was formerly of Hanover. A 1949 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, McSherrystown, he served honorably in the Army during the Korean War. Before retirement, he worked in the automotive service business. He had been employed by JCPenney as manager of the automotive service department and was later employed at Abington Chevrolet. During retirement, he was employed by Abington Heights School District in the transportation department. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, serving as a eucharistic minister, adult acolyte for funeral Masses and a member of the Men's Club.
A kind and gentle person, he was a loving husband, devoted father and known as "Boppa" by his cherished grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame and the Yankees. The blessing of fond memories of the happy times shared with his family and the card games with his friends and all who knew him will be sadly missed
Surviving are three daughters, Cindy Eline, Scranton; Jill Eline, Wilkes-Barre; and Kim Eline Kohl and husband, Bill, Middletown; a grandson, Christopher Kohl; a granddaughter, Kate Kohl, both of Middletown; an aunt and cousins.
The funeral will be Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be at the convenience of the family with a graveside service in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, McSherrystown.
