Paul F. Cox of the Earl's Section of Williamsburg County died at the Georgetown County Memorial Hospital Friday night after several years of declining health and a critical illness of several days.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Andrews Presbyterian Church. Officiating were the Rev. Joseph A. Scruggs and the Rev. C. Blease Edwards. Burial followed in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Mayer Funeral Home. Nephews served as pallbearers.
Mr. Cox, son of the late Elijah Cox and the late Mrs. Agnes McCants Cox, was born in Williamsburg County on March 2, 1896. He spent all his life in the Earl's Community, where he was a farmer and a building contractor. Mr. Cox was a member of the Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are: his widow, Mrs. Esta Kimmel Cox of Andrews, Rt. 3; two sons, Russel Paul Cox of Charleston and Clifford Cox of Andrews; three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Nita) Padgett of Andrews, Mrs. Joe (Shirley) Bruorton of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Mrs. Norman (Myra) Rowell of Trio; fifteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Alton Cox of Andrews; three sisters, Mrs. W.H. Ackerman, Mrs. P. B. Brantly, and Mrs. Robert Moskow, all of Andrews; and a number of nephews and nieces.
