Arthur Guy Haynes, 82, of Alfred Hartley Road, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.

He was born June 3, 1925, in Lincoln County to the late Russell Dewey and Mae Ingle Haynes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Helen Louise Pritchard Haynes; and a brother, R.D. "Dewey" Haynes Jr.

Mr. Haynes was a long-time resident of the Mount Herman community where he was a member of Mount Hermon United Methodist Church and served as a local Scout Troop leader. Mr. Haynes was also a retiree of the Coble Dairy Company.

Survivors include five sons, Arthur Guy Haynes Jr. of Conover, Dennis Ray Haynes of Lenoir, Donald Allen Haynes of Hudson, Ricky Eugene Haynes of Lenoir and Timothy Wayne Haynes of Sawmills; two daughters, Mrs. Brenda Haynes Johnson of Hudson and Mrs. Penny Haynes Bumgarner of Hudson; three brothers, Herbert Haynes of Sparta, Paul Haynes of Granite Falls and Sam Haynes of Kannapolis; a sister, Mrs. Helen Haynes Pendry of Randleman; 16 loving grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 1, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Chuck Marbry and the Rev. Ernest E. Bowes.
Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Shane Johnson, Brad Haynes, Roger Haynes, James Haynes, Cody Seaboch and Gary Crouch.

Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Chris Haynes and Josh Haynes.

Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
