Lupe "Wapita" Tijerina, 62, of Waco, passed away Monday, March 6, 2006, at St. Catherine's. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Armando Virgen officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Lupe was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Trinidad and Elvira (Serrato) Tijerina, and had lived in Waco all her life. She worked as an inspector for a Waco bottling plant for many years.
She is survived by sons, Victor Tijerina and wife, Patricia, of Waco, and Jimmy Gutierrez and wife, Ruby, and Nicholas Gutierrez, all of Waco; their father, Jimmy Gutierrez, Sr. of Houston; daughters, Lisa Savage, of Waco, Vickie Vasquez and husband, Edwardo, of Annapolis, Md., and Pamela Rosas and husband, Frank, of Houston; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Tony Tijerina and Johnny Tijerina, both of Waco, and Trinidad Tijerina, Jr., of Dallas; sisters, Rosie Cirilo, Ruth Sais, Nancy Gonzales and husband, Tom, Mary Arzola, Gloria Romero and husband, Richard, Theresa Gonzales and husband, Angel Garcia, and Vera Gonzales and husband, Ray, all of Waco; many other family members and friends.
