My paternal grandfather:
Charlie Lee is the son of Edward V. Morris and Mary Susan (Hinshaw) Morris. He is the grandson of Calvin T. Morris and Eliza Jane (Gifford) Yates Morris.
On June 5, 1917, Charlie Lee Morris, age 21, registered for the WWI draft in Jackson Co., AL. He declared he was born Nov. 25, 1895 in Grays Chapel, TN and was then residing in Swaim, AL where he was single, without dependents, and a farm laborer employed by E.V. Morris of Swaim. He was recorded as medium height, medium build, light blue eyes, light brown hair. During WWI he served as a Private in the U.S. Army.
He married Lola Ethel (Brewer) Waller on August 17, 1919 in Hollytree, AL by Bro. Billy Howell.
His brothers and sisters were: James Calvin, Nancy Jane "Nannie", Hattie, Mattie, Floyd Edward, and Hubert Ray.
