Actor. For over five decades, he was a familiar figure noted for a rich, deep voice in over 270 films and television shows. Known as reliable supporting player in a variety of dramas and occasional comedies, he was best remembered for his roles in western movies and TV series, and was said to be the fastest draw in Hollywood with a six-gun. His film credits include "Carson City" (1948), "The Texas Rangers" (1951), "War Paint" (1953), "The Fastest Gun Alive" (1956), "The Sons of Katie Elder" (1965), "True Grit" (1969) and "Patton" (1970). For television, he was a regular on "The Lone Ranger", "The Roy Rogers Show", "Cheyenne", "Have Gun-Will Travel", "Bonanza", "Wagon Train" and many more. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
