Italian Home member worked at Sharon mill
Louis Sabitno DeMarco, 980 Mercer Ave., Hermitage, passed away at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007, in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 61.
Mr. DeMarco was born Oct. 5, 1945, in Sharon to Joseph S. DeMarco Sr. and Eleanor Burkhart DeMarco. He attended Mercer area schools. Mr. DeMarco worked for 22 years for the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant and currently was employed as a tow motor operator for Duferco Farrell Corp., where he worked for the past seven years. He was of the Catholic faith and belonged to the Italian Home Club, Farrell. Mr. DeMarco enjoyed hunting, NASCAR and sprint car racing.
Surviving are: his mother, Sharon; his companion, Carol Ackley, at home; a daughter, Leah King, Mercer; four sisters, Eleanor Smeltz and her husband Harry, Mercer; Antoinette DeMarco, Masury; Theresa DeMarco, Sharpsville; and Mary DeMarco, Mercer; and three brothers, Franko DeMarco, Masury; Joseph S. DeMarco Jr. and his wife Donna, Mercer; and James DeMarco, Sharpsville. He also leaves two granddaughters, Tiffiny McCandless and Tonya Gregory; and a great-granddaughter, Hallie McCandless. Mr. DeMarco was preceded in death by his father.
