She married James Wayne Van Allen on January 20, 1876 in St. Clair County, Missouri. Together they had eleven children, Lou, Blanche, Anna Marie, Phillip, James Wayne, William Garrett, Jennie, Mattie, Burley, Pearly and Charlie.
In 1896, James and Mollie left Missouri, traveling by covered wagon to Indian Territory, Creek Nation (Oklahoma).
Their twins, Burley and Pearly, were born in a wagon yard in Checotah, about 13 miles from Eufaula, where the family finally settled. I have been told that Emma died in childhood. She is listed in the 1990 Indian Territory, Creek Nation Census, as being 3 years old. I don't know how soon she died after that.
Mollie was left a widow, when James died just five years after moving to Oklahoma. I have often wondered how hard it must have been, living away from her family, with the responsibility of providing for her small children.
However, she was quite a survivor, living to be 92 years of age, dying of complications from a broken hip.
