Bill J. Haney, age 83, of Palestine, Texas died April 2, 2009, in Tyler, Texas. Burial in Roselawn Park was under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. He was born August 2, 1925 in Robstown, Texas to Grady Milton and Velma Lois Hall Haney. Mr. Haney served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was the owner of Bill Haney Insurance Agency. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Gideon Society. He was past president of the YMCA, Rotary Club and Civic Music. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jack Haney. Mr. Haney is survived by his wife of 35 years, Leatrice Haney; daughters, Diane Dayton, Denise Good, Sandra Dolores Flato, Cindy Garcia, and Toni McCarty; son, Don Haney ; 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
