Larry was the fourth of five children of Lawrence, Sr., and Alldyth (Chapman) Bynon. He was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico but lived most of his life in Albuquerque where, on June 28, 1958, he married Janette Loraine Chavez and they had five children:

3 Clarissa Jane (1 Roy Sanchaz, 2 Ivan Smith)

Larry served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from April 7, 1954 until February 4, 1955. He was an automotive air conditioning and service mechanic in Albuquerque for 30 years.
