Robert Lee "Bobby" Vance was born May 17, 1941 in Marlin to Robert Lee and Ruby Lee (Nettles) Vance. He was a 1959 graduate of Lexington High School and attended Southwest Texas College. He was a member of Lexington United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir and served as a trustee. He was a member of Lexington Lions Club, board member for Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott and served as secretary-treasurer for Lexington Memorial Cemetery. Bobby had worked various jobs in Texas, California and Ohio and retired from ALCOA in Rockdale after a long employment. On June 16, 2007 he and Charlotte Nettles were married in Tennessee. Bobby passed away Monday, January 19, 2009 in the Seton Hospital in Austin reaching the age of 67. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Juanita Smith Vance on November 11, 2005; his parents; and a brother, Edmund Neil Vance. from the Lexington Leader, January 22, 2009
