Residence: Door Creek, Dane County, Wisconsin.
Civil War: Age 25. Unmarried.
Enlisted for three years on 11 Dec 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin, and mustered there the same day.
Sick at Mississippi River Island No. 10.
Sick in hospital in Iuka, Mississippi, on 21 Aug 1862.
Wounded in the Battle at Chickamauga, Georgia, 19 Sep 1863, and taken prisoner.
On May 27, 1864, the 15th fought in the disastrous Battle of Pickett's Mill, Georgia (often referred to as Dallas or New Hope Church).
There the regiment suffered 50% casualties, one of whom was Private Johnson.
