At the time of her marriage to Dr. Marshall, about sixty-one years ago, she removed her residence to Annville. Mrs. Marshall passed her eighty-fourth birthday anniversary in April of this year.
She was a member of the second class to be graduated from Lebanon High School. Since high school graduates in those days were eligible to teaching positions, Mrs. Marshall was a teacher in the Lebanon elementary schools before her marriage to Dr. Marshall. In her youth she
was noted for her keen mind, her kind-heartedness to others, and her outstanding individuality endearing qualities which she kept throughout her long and useful life.
Mrs. Marshall at all times took not only a keen but an active interest in all affairs which affected her community. She was a wise mother, an understanding friend and a leader of loyalty and ability. She was a past president of the Woman's Club, of Lebanon, and for thirty- five years served as treasurer of the auxiliary board of the Loysville Orphans Home. She was a devoted member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Annville, and organized the church missionary society of which she was the past president.
She helped to organize and was a charter member of the Annville Chapter P. O. of A., and was secretary of that organization for thirty years. For twenty-five years she was secretary of the Annville branch, American Red Cross, and assisted in the activities of the United Welfare Fund, and other welfare interests of her community and her county. She was a member of the Home Study CIrcle of Annville, the ladies auxiliary of the Union Fire Company, Annville, and was a charter member of the auxiliary of the American Legion, Annville.
Her husband, Dr. Marshall, died eleven years ago, and nine years ago her son, Dr. J. E. Marshall, of this city passed away. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Elizabeth H. Marshall, at home; Jessie, wife of Guy T. Jones, of this city; her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Grace Marshall, Lebanon, widow of Dr. J. E. Marshall, and six grandchildren.
