MICHAEL COOK, proprietor hotel, Liberty Mills. Michael Cook was born in Montgomery County, Ohio, April 20, 1837. His father, John C, was born in Pennsylvania, and his mother, whose maiden name wras Elizabeth Bower, was born in Kentucky. Mr. Cook enlisted in Company B, Forty-seventh Indiana Volunteers, for three years' service, and served until the close of the war. He participated in the battles of Milliken's Bend, Port Gibson, Champion Hills, Vicksburg and Jackson, and several minor engagements.
On the 27th of January, 1867, he married Miss Alice J. Martin, daughter of John A. and Amanda ( McLain) Martin, natives of Pennsylvania. They have one childó Aurelius B. Mr. Cook learned the carpenter's trade when young, but since the war he has been engaged in the manufacture of carriages and wagons. He is also a partner in the ice business. His wife's father was a soldier in the Forty-seventh Indiana Regiment, and died in the service at Memphis, Tenn.

Enlisted as a Private on 15 November 1861 in Company B, 47th Infantry Regiment Indiana. Promoted to Full 1st Lieutenant on 1 March 1865. Mustered Out Company B, 47th Infantry Regiment Indiana on 23 October 1865 at Shreveport, Louisiana.
