Hubert Peoples "H.P." Bruner passed away in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. He was born to Frank O. and Ella Mae (Peoples) Bruner.
Mr. Bruner served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1935 to 1939 and 1943 to 1944. He was a Missouri State Highway Patrolman from 1939 and retiring in 1974 from Troop G with the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Bruner was a member of Republic Masonic Lodge #570 AF and AM and was Deputy District Grand Master for 15 years. He has performed Masonic rites on numerous occasions. He was a Past Master of Mission Texas Lodge. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Joplin and Abou Ben Adhem Shrine. Mr. Bruner was also an avid photographer and gun collector.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael; a brother, James; his wife, Hazel; his wife, Dorothea; and a nephew, Mark Bruner.
He is survived by two sisters, Wilma Medlock, Fresno, Calif., and Evelyn Forkner, Salem, Ore.; two step-daughters, Jacquelyn Coker, Phoenix, Ariz., and Cresinda Taylor, Nixa, Mo.; five nieces and nephews, Patricia Price, Cotati, Calif., Karla Kramer, Seattle, Wash., Steve Medlock, Fresno, Calif., LaRoy McNichols, Hawaii, and Marshall Bruner, Springfield, Mo.; 14 great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services with Masonic Rites and military honors were held at 4 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2007, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with Rev. Steve Ward officiating. Burial will be at a later date under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, Missouri
