George D. Adams, age 83, went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2007. He was an active member of First Baptist Church for 42 years.
He was born on June 18, 1924, in Quincy, Ill., and grew up in Canton, Mo., where he married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Jo Boulware, on August 31, 1944.
He served in the Army Air Corp from 1943 through 1947. George worked for the Justice Department as a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigations and retired in 1978. After retirement he enjoyed traveling and earned his pilot and instruments licenses.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Jo; his two daughters, Dr. Kay V. Adams of South Glastonbury, Conn., and Deborah J. Lato of St. Louis, Mo.; his two grandchildren, Robert T. Lato and Kaylyn M. Lato; and his sister, Alice McCutcheon of Canton, Mo.
Burial will be in Missouri State Veteran's Cemetery on Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 East Seminole, Springfield, MO 65804 at 2:30 p.m.
