Swedish House of Nobility family 748, starting with Hans Detterman Cronman, Nobil.
Colonel Joachim Cronman, Joakim Cronman.
Joakim was the son of Hans Detterman Cronman (1590-after1645) aka Lord Hans Detterman Nobil Cronman, of Liveland, Latvia; and Ursula Kordes (1600-1675).
He was born around 1625.
He had the following siblings: Wilhelm Cronman; Johan Cronman (1618-?); Vilhelm Cronman (c1617-1656); Anna Catharina Cronman I (1620-?); Elisabeth Cronman (c1625-1687); Ursula Cronman; Frans Cronman; Fritz Cronman, an Adjutant General; Christina Cronman (c1628-1687) who married Joachim Georg Fredric von Rohr (c1629-1709) who died in the Battle of Narva.
He appears to be attending the University of Tartu in 1645.
Joachim married Lunetta Makeléer (1639-1693) on August 9, 1657 or 1659 in Goteborg, Sweden. Lunetta was the daughter of John Hans Makeléer of Scotland who had moved to Sweden.
He was a colonel at the Narva fortress starting in 1679. He was the colonel for the Savolaks and Nyslott regiments in 1683. He became the commandant of Neumünde and died on March 5, 1703.
Together they had the following children: Anna Catharina Cronman II (1660-?) who married Hans Christoffer von Rohr (1626-1700); Carl Cronman; Johan Cronman (1662-1737) Baron Cronman; Hedvig Elisabeth Cronman (1663-1699) who married Henrik Aminoff (1653-?); Jacob Fredrik Cronman (c1655-1710); Gustaf Wilhelm Cronman (c1655-1710); Ursula Cronman (1660-1745) who married Christoffer Fredrik Von Grothenhielm (1655-1705); Lunetta Cronman; Christina Cronman; Magnus Cronman; and David Cronman.
He died on March 5, 1703 at Neumünde in Riga in Latvia. The cause of death is unknown.
The Battle That Shook Europe: Poltava and the Birth of the Russian Empire by Peter Englund (1992): "Johan Cronman, 1662-1737, Lieutenant with Narva Garrison 1683, Second-Captain with Narke-Varmland regiment 1687, ..."
Joachim Cronman (1638-1703) was the ninth great-grandfather of Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ). He would be the ninth great-granduncle of Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) based on Anrep's error about Anna Catharina Cronman. Some genealogies have her as Joachim's daughter and some as his sister.
Researched and written by Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) for Findagrave starting on November 15, 2005. Updated on October 5, 2009 which changed the cause of death to unknown. The list of siblings and children was updated by ignoring the error in "Svenska adelns ättar-taflor" by Gabriel Anrep that was published in 1858. This error was corrected by Gustaf Elgenstierna in the 1920s. There has been confusion between the Anna Catharina Cronman I that was born circa 1620-1630, and the Anna Catharina Cronman II that was born circa 1660. Updated on April 10, 2014 with a new estimate of his birth based on attending the University of Tartu in 1645.
