Henry Harrison Boggess was born in 1812 in Boone County Kentucky. He married Catherine G. Black Boggess (who is buried nearby) on 5 Jan 1836 in Boone County Kentucky. They had five children I know of: Parthina, Margret, Madora, Henry Clay, and Catherine. Madora and Henry Clay are also buried in this same cemetery. Henry died 6 March 1886 in Indianpolis. In 1850 he lived in Moral, Shelby, Indiana where he worked as a tobaconist. He was elected sheriff of Shelby County and was serving as such in 1860. He enlisted in the Union Army in the Quartermaster Division as a Captain on 3 Aug 1861 and served until 15 June 1865. In 1870 he was a Justice of the Peace in Indianapolis.
This is a copy of his obituary: "Obituary: March, 1886 Henry Harrison Boggess, 74 yrs of age, an old citizen of Indianapolis, died at the residence of his son-in-law, W. M. Johnson, 139 N. Pennsylvania St, after a long illness. He came to Shelby Co, in 1850 and was elected sheriff of this county in 1858. He was appointed Asst. Quartermaster in 1861 and was stationed at Gallipolis, OH and other points in WV. He served until 1865, when he was reassigned and came to Indianapolis.
His wife died about 10 yrs ago, and he leaves three daughters; Mrs. J.W. Jones, of Greencastle, Mrs. W.M. Johnson and Miss Dora Boggess. The funeral took place on Sunday, and was attend by Tippicanoe Club of which he was a member."
