Joseph Beckwith, 76 years old, a veteran of the civil war, died yesterday, at his home, 1542 Bellefontaine street. He had been in failing health for several years and for the last six months had been confined to his home. Funeral services will be held at the home of his son, William R. Beckwith, 1108 North New Jersey street, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Crown Hill cemetery.
Mr. Beckwith moved to Indianapolis from Peru, Ind., his birthplace, about thirty-five years ago. After the civil war he was a conductor for a number of years on the old I. P. & C. railroad. In addition to his son William he is survived by his widow, another son, Fred of Indianapolis, and two sisters, Miss Sally Beckwith and Miss Nerve Beckwith of Peru.
