Louise Bearden Eley was the daughter of Clifford Bearden, farmer and peddler, and Ireva Spencer. She married William Francis Eley of Unionville,TN. Soon afterward they moved to San Antonio, where Bill attended Texas Chiropractic School, and she worked for General Motors. It was there, that she gave birth to her only child, me, Reva Gale. they later lived for a time in Kentucky and Tennessee.
It was in Lynchburg, TN, where she began to work for a small telephone office with 4 operators, which was bought by AT@T. In 1951, she transferred to Sheffield, Alabama.
She was a working mother at a time when most women were not. In order to get to woek, she rode the city bus, as most people were not two-car families then, still she found time to make all of our clothes.
They relocated to Decatur in 1968, where she continued to work for telephone company a for 35 years for AT @ T, which later became Bellsouth for 35 years. She frequently found time to volunteer for school, community and church projects. She was a totally selfless woman, dedicated to serving God and others.
She had one granddaughter, Kimberly Noelle Staggs, born 1975.
