Birth: May 31, 1889

Tennessee, USA
Death: Nov. 17, 1976
Florence
Lauderdale County
Alabama, USA

Joshua Thomas Wheelhouse married Roberta Frances Turner as death had claimed the former marital partners of both Joshua and Roberta. In this family there were 17 children, (his, hers, theirs). When Joshua was sixty five years old, twin daughters, Evie and Edna were born to Roberta. Edna died at the age of nine, but Evie was their pride and joy.
Evie prepared herself to be a school teacher. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in the community of Longview. Meanwhile, she was busy getting her hopechest ready, ,making quilts, bedding and raising a setting of laying hens by her wedding day, Dec. 25, 1910.
Will Eley came for his bride on Christmas day. She was attired in a dress which whe had made herself. Will and Evie set up housekeeping in a log house on their own land. The house grew as the family grew and finally became a two story, comfortable dwelling. They had nine children, one died in infancy. Children were Ruby Lee, William Francis, Virginia Gladys, Thomas Clay, Jerry Cecil, Graham Landis (G.L.), Don Bright (died in infancy), Evylin and James Morton (Jim) Eley

She was instrumental in getting the church started in Unionville and supported it in every way throughout the years.

The Eley's celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 1960. Just two months after their Golden wedding, Will died. Evie lived as a widow for fifteen years and stayed busy and contented. at the age of 85 she still mowed her lawn and fed her fine cows, used her hammer and saw too. The description of the worthy woman in Proverbs 31:10-31 fits her beautifully.
