Louis, the son of the late Earl and Carrie Erma Misner French, and a Veteran of the Korean War, passed away at his home October 28, 2008. His is preceded in death by his brothers Donald and Bill French. He leaves behind his wife, Beverly French, of 42 years, 5 sons - Lonnie, James, Dwayne Sr., Michael, and Gregory, 6 daughters - Dorthy, Mary, Julie, Michelle, Sherri and Leita, 26 grand children, 5 great grand-children and one brother, Ray Varnell.
Louis was born May 19, 1993 in Walnut Kansas, graduated from Walnut High School in 1951, attended Coffeyville Community College and joined the Marines in 1952. He received his bachelors' degree from Washburn University and began a teaching career that lasted 27 years which included coaching track and baseball and the game he loved - basketball.
Louis worked hard to provide for his family and lived a very full life. He loved fishing, camping, cookouts, quality time with his family and took great pride in the many accomplishment of his children and grand-children.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, November 02, 2008 at 2:00pm at 400 Walnut, Overbrook, Kansas. His ashes were buried in Carbondale, Kansas cemetery on July 3, 2009.
