James Baker Buried
At Viola Thursday
James Baker, former resident of
Viola township, was buried Thursday
in the Viola township cemetery. Brief
services were conducted there by the
Rev. W. M. Brooks, pastor of the
Audubon Methodist church. The body
was accompanied to Audubon by Mr.
Baker's sister, Mrs. Nellie Smith of
Dodge City, Kansas and his niece,
Mrs. Nellie Goodfellow, of Omaha.
Mr. Baker died Saturday, Decem-
ber 21, in an Omaha hospital. Death
was the result of a stroke of paraly-
sis suffered on October 24, only a
few days following his return to
Omaha from Audubon, where he had
spent the greater part of the summer
and early fall months.
Mr. Baker, who was about 72 years
old, was an uncle of Harry Oliver
of near Audubon. Immediate rela-
tives surviving are a brother, John
Baker of Spirit Lake and the sister,
Mrs. Smith of Dodge City, Kansas.
