Frank, my Dad, was a musician, salesman, radio announcer, avid fisherman and hunter, and a loving husband and father.
He was the sportscaster (radio) for the world champion Clearwater Bombers softball team for 25 years. Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, he was of Creek Indian heritage. Graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1933, he was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the Army Reserve, but was not allowed to serve during WWII due to his loss of hearing. Instead he worked for the Army Air Corps as a flight dispatcher during the war at several training bases in Texas. Moving to Clearwater, Florida in 1948, he worked at radio station WTAN until his retirement. His daily fishing show, "Tips, Tides, and Tackle" was a favorite of local sportsmen in the area. He taught a Sunday School class for 25 years at the Methodist Church in Clearwater, and was master of ceremonies at many local civic functions. Upon his retirement from broadcasting he was given an award by the American Softball Association for his many years of service.
