He finally got to the Major Leagues in 1890 with the hometown Louisville Colonel's of the faltering American Association. The AA was on the verge of collapsing financially as a major league, and was in dire need of players. Being a local boy, he was a perfect fit. He batted a respectable .272 with 3 homers and 77 RBI's in his only major league season. He went back to playing minor and semi-pro ball afterward, eventually settling in Union, New Jersey.
