He started in the mercantile business in 1870. They lived in Moreland, Ga. for over 30 years, before moving to Florida. Graduated from Southern Medical College in 1885. He dug a well for the town at his own expense and some streets as well. They were Methodists. He was a Mason and a Democrat.
