Vermont Lieutenant Governor. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and took part in the invasion of Okinawa. In 1949 he graduated from Norwich University and became a pharmaceutical company sales representative, later becoming a teacher and coach at Rutland Junior High School. In 1956 he was elected to the Rutland City Council, of which he later served as President. In 1961 he was elected Rutland Mayor, serving until 1965. In 1964 he was the successful Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor, serving two terms, 1965 to 1969. After running unsuccessfully for Governor in 1968 he returned to his teaching career. In 1981 he returned to the Mayor's office, serving until 1987. After retiring from teaching Daley was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives and served two terms, 1993 to 1997.
