After an illness continuing during the last three years, Mrs. Lydia King Pratt, wife of A.B. Pratt, Esq., of this city, died at 7:30 o'clock yesterday morning, of nervous degeneration, aged 73 years and 2 days.
Mrs. Pratt was born in Gray, Cumberland County, Maine, Feb. 3, 1821. She was educated in the public school of her neighborhood and in Bloomfield Academy. She was married to Mr. Pratt at her father's home August 19, 1852. The new family lived at Skowhagen, Maine, Mr. Pratt's native town, about four years, when they removed to Wisconsin, arriving at Ripon June 8th, 1856. For two years the family lived on a farm near the city, when they removed to town where they have since resided. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Pratt, four of whom besides the husband survive - three sons and one daughter.
Mrs. Pratt was a member of the Methodist church during the early part of her residence in Ripon, but she joined the Congregational church about fifteen years ago, at the time of the Craig defection. She was a quiet, consistant Christian woman, conscientiously performing her full duty in the cause of her faith, ever forgetful of her own comfort in the service of others. She was a rarely devoted mother and faithful wife. "The children think there never was such a mother." She was a peacemaker and lived in peace with all. Her sickness was long and painful, but she was uncomplaining through it all. At last she is at rest. The funeral will be held from her late residence tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock.
