Mrs. Rebecca Frances Peters widow of the late Solomon Peters passed away at her home one mile west of Calvary Monday evening, May 28, 1934, at 6:30 o'clock. Death was due to a paralytic stroke Sunday.
Mrs. Peters was before marriage Miss Rebecca Sheetz, daughter of the late Henry and Caroline Sheetz. She was born and reared near Calvary. She was 73 years of age and had been a member of the Reformed Church from girlhood. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother, industrious and unselfish. Mrs. Peter's death will bring sorrow not only to her own family, but to the many friends and neighbors to whom she was ever kind and thoughtful, helping to nurse the suffering, sympathetic in times of trouble, and ever ready to give of her time and means to all who needed her help. Hers was an example of a noble Christian life of service to others.
Surviving Mrs. Peters are three sons, Elmer W. Peters, of Wakemans Grove, Earl F. Peters and Harry O. Peters at home; three daughters, Mrs. Carrie A. Kibler, and Misses Mary O. and Lelia at home; one step-daughter, Mrs. Gertie Wetzel, of St. Luke and eight grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Mary Wilkins, of Lantz Mill; Mrs. Virginia Wolf and Mrs. Ida Didawick, both of Readus; and Mrs. Catherine Swartz of Calvary; two brothers, Capt. Ira Sheetz, of Washington, D.C., and Sanford Sheetz, of Cumberland, Md., her husband died 18 years ago, one son and one daughter, one step-son and one step-daughter also preceeded her in death a number of years ago.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. L. Moore at Wesley Chapel on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock and she was laid to rest in the family cemetery.
