Theodore Samuel "Sam" Holder, II
Birth: Jun. 7, 1977
Colorado, USA
Death: Nov. 11, 2004
Anbar, Iraq

Marine Staff Sgt. Holder was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. Holder was killed in an explosion by enemy action. Theodore, called Sam, was a graduate of Green Mountain High School in Lakewood, Colorado. Soon after his graduation, he told his family he wanted to join the Marines because it was something he wanted to do he wanted to serve his country. He served for eight years, including three prestigious tours as an embassy guard. Sam guarded Secretary of State Colin Powell at one time, in addition to meeting President George W. Bush and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. But his job in Iraq was a dangerous one he had to enter hostile territory and sweep for roadside bombs. He would make mundane phone calls home in which he talked about day to day things and said he was bored just so his mom wouldn't worry. Sam did much in his 27 years he traveled the world, jumped from airplanes and fell in love. (bio by: Brenda N)
