Born in Kentucky, fourth child and son of James and Martha A. (Veach) Kinkade. Settled in Shelby County, IL, in the fall of 1850, then moved to Richland county two years later. James lived on the farm until his 21st year.

Married to Margaret Jane Upton on 2/28/1869. Father of James I., Louella, Irma, and Evaline.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the M. E. Church in Dundas, for Marshall Kinkade, 92, prominent resident of that town who died Friday evening at the home of his granddaughter, Miss Carrie Kinkade. Burial in the Dundas Cemetery.

Survived by a daughter, Mrs. Luella (Allison T.) Phillips of Casper, Wyoming, a sister, Mrs. Martha Doser of Dundas, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
